Launch Tomorrow and Managing Remote Teams/Align Remotely are looking for a skilled webmaster to manage the author's web presence.

Launch Tomorrow is a book and blog on the topic of innovation, mostly in the context of startups. Conversely, Align Remotely is a book and Managing Remote Teams is a podcast on the topic of remote leadership and management-mostly in larger companies. If you are interested in these topics, then this might be good gig for you. 

As part of his book marketing efforts, the author created a handful of websites in order to build an online presence which helps new readers discover his work. These currently require some technical and SEO maintenance in order to bring the sites in line with current search engine standards. 

Webmaster Responsibilities:

The webmaster will be responsible for maintaining servers and ensuring websites are functional, user-friendly, visually pleasing, and up-to-date. The overall goal of the position is to provide a good experience to readers, as well as to support the growth of the business via technical SEO and general website maintenance.

To be successful as a webmaster you should be able to work well in a team, collaborating with managers, designers, writers, etc. As an exceptional webmaster, you should have excellent technical skills and a good understanding of creative online marketing, as well a willingness to pick up new skills and tools in this space. 

  • Determining website needs and requirements.
  • Building and testing aesthetic, functional, and user-friendly websites.
  • Implementing and ensuring website security and data protection.
  • Maintaining, updating, and optimizing servers based using feedback from monitoring tools.
  • Monitoring and analyzing site performance.
  • Updating website content and reviewing SEO.
  • Addressing and responding to user comments and complaints.

Webmaster Requirements:

  • Degree in computer science or a related field preferred, ideally with relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (PHP, Javascript) and operating systems (Linux).
  • Knowledge of website management tools (Wordpress).
  • Online marketing and SEO skills.
  • Knowledge of IT security.
  • Good collaboration skills.
  • Reliable and detail-oriented.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

This is a part-time remote role, paying monthly by hours worked. While most of the work will be done at your own premises, the ability to meet in person occasionally would be a nice extra.
